Kitsune

Kitsune (or foxes) are a common subject in Japanese folklore. They are depicted as being magical and highly intelligent creatures. Often times they assume the form of a human (often a beautiful woman) by placing a leaf or bundle of reeds on their head. This ability helps them greatly to trick others, leading to their reputation of trickster. Once in the human form, you can often distinguish them by their tail which they have difficulty in hiding, the shadow they cast will still be that of a fox, or any reflection which would still show their true appearance. I love the many legends and stories including Kitsune, check them out!

Baykok

The Baykok, a walking skeleton with translucent skin and glowing red eyes that comes from the folklore of the Chippewa nation is a vicious killer. However, the Baykok only preys on warriors, and will kill with either with its club or invisible arrows. So if you're meek and mild, you have nothing to fear from this intriguing spectre!

I'm such a bad blogger! Bad, megan! its going to be in color but as its nearing the end of the semester things are a bit... crazy and I bit off more than I could chew with the massive inking. So to show I'm not entirely a flake I have the black and white part done:  Black Annis!!! Man I love this myth.  This is an Irish (?) myth that says black agnes (annis) is this super creepy creature that looks like an old hag but has a blue face and iron claws on her hands.  She snatches children and lambs in which then she skins (the lamb, I guess) them and wears them as a belt.  I think she just eats the kiddies.  This is the type of creature parents tell their unfortunate kiddies to behave or 'Black Annis will get you'.  One has to wonder about the effectiveness of terrifying your children into obedience.

The Deer Woman

The deer lady (or old woman or half-deer, half-woman, depends on what mood she's in) can be found in many different cultures.  I read about this particular one from a Native American myth about a spirit who can take the form of a beautiful woman, an old lady or a strange looking deer. But like all mythical beasts watch out!  If you get too close she'll kick you to death.
